Stephanie

Stephanie Penales

Position: ESG and Social Responsibility Advisor
Degree: Masters of Environmental Management and Development

Steph joined our Evolution Mining family as a Graduate in he Sustainability function in February 2021.

After completing her Master's of Environmental Management & Development, Evolution stood out during the application process as a company with a strong sustainability and environmental focus in the mining industry.

Steph's highlights of her time so far include a 6-month rotation at Mungari, working and partnering with our communities through community projects, donations and town halls, and building relationships throughout the business. Steph describes the company as being "open and reflective of the changes happening around us and how we can adapt with them".

Outside of work, Steph enjoys swimming, reading, and dinner with friends.

Beau Garland

Beau Garland

Position: Geophysicist
Degree: Bachelor of Science, BSc, Geophysics and Mathematics

Beau began his journey with Evolution in November 2020 as Graduate Geophysicist in our Discovery function. With multiple opportunities available to him at the time, Evolution Mining stood out as the ‘right fit’ for Beau due to such an accommodating and friendly interview process, a warm and welcoming work environment, and a culture that encourages social and professional connections.

In his first year of the graduate program, Beau has worked on a number of projects to support his ongoing learning and development, and has been particularly appreciative of the opportunity to work extensively on our QGIS project which will be rolled out to all of Evolution’s exploration sites as a way to improve access to data in our geophysics space.

Outside of work, Beau enjoys going camping and hiking (his favourite spot being the Tongariro Crossing in New Zealand), building computers from scratch, and is now working on his car for his next big trip!

James Weise

James Weise

Position: Commercial Superintendent (Mine Controller)
Degree: Bachelor of Business, Accounting

James joined Evolution as part of the 2016 Graduate cohort as the Finance and Commercial Graduate. What drew James to Evolution was the fact that he had gained an interest in mining from working as a summer/vacation student for Evolution (Pajingo operation) in 2012 & 2013 and liked what EVN was about and trying to build.

Some of James' program highlights include being involved in a wide range of tasks and roles of the broader Commercial department (financial accounting, treasury, supply and mine accounting rotations) which made it easier to understand the career paths available to him. The mentoring and personal professional development skills taught through the program itself were beneficial as they’re not learnt at university. James has progressed nicely across multiple Evolution sites, including our Red Lake Operation in Canada where he currently is the Commercial Superintendent.

James' advice to future Evolution Graduates is to "be open and flexible to the opportunities provided to you, always ask questions to understand and share your thoughts and ideas with those in your team and around you"
