Graduate Teacher Recruitment Initiative

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for graduate teacher vacancies in our schools, candidates must:

• Be a four-year qualified teacher who has completed all course requirements and graduated within the last four years.
• Be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
• Not be employed as a teacher by the department or previously employed by the school at the time of the commencement of the advertised vacancy.
• Commit to a minimum of one year's employment in the school.

Financial incentives to help you jump start your teaching career.

The department has several opportunities in the 2023/2024 financial years that will provide a financial incentive of $5,650 (before tax) to successful eligible graduate teachers who commence in Graduate Teacher Recruitment Initiative positions.

The financial incentive will be paid in your first pay period after commencing employment with the school.
