Figuring out your future while studying can feel overwhelming, right? Don’t worry, we’ve got you. Aurecon’s 12-week Summer Internship Programme helps you explore, learn and see what’s possible.
You’ll get hands-on experience, connect with supportive mentors, and discover how your skills can make real impact. We’re all about backing your growth and giving you the tools to succeed.
As a Structural Engineering Intern in our Brisbane Ports, Marine, and Coastal team, you’ll work on projects that shape cities, communities, and the environment.
What sets this team apart is the unique variety of engineering challenges presented by Australia’s coastal environment. Every project is different, offering continuous learning opportunities and exposure to innovative, real-world problem solving. As part of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to tackle a diverse range of exciting challenges, including:
Determination of loading on coastal and marine structures often considering wave impacts, cyclonic wind gusts, and vessel berthing actions.
Involvement throughout the entire lifespan of projects from conceptual planning stages to detailed design, throughout construction, and onto the continual management and improvement of assets.
Designing and analysing a wide variety of steel, concrete, and timber structures including offshore materials handling berths, passenger transport terminals, marine precincts, and redevelopments to name a few.
Using a range of design codes and analytical methods to achieve the best design solutions possible. Including the development and use of tools based on emerging technologies such as AI.
Working alongside clients to identify and tackle the challenges posed by our ever-changing environment in the face of climate change and rising sea levels.
Planning and supervising the real-world implementation of projects, considering transport options, installation challenges, and real-world aspects.
Feasibility and planning services looking at the next generation of marine projects including offshore wind, green hydrogen facilities, and maritime defence projects.
